Caltra started the season with a hard fought win against St. Michaels on Saturday evening last (March 31st) in Pearse Stadium on a scoreline of 1.09 to 0.09. The team were slow to get started with St. Michaels hitting 6 points to a solitary caltra effort in the first 20 minutes. The last ten minutes of the half proved more fruitful as Caltra began to get on top in midfield and more ball for the forwards meant we kicked 2 further points before the break leaving us 0.06 to 0.03 down at half time.

St, Michales drew the fist bllod with a pointed free butpPlaying with the breeze in the second half Caltra began to get on top again and hit 1.03 without reply to take the lead for the first time in the match and starting to dominate. With St. Michaels now on the ropes their players were becoming frustrated and some unsavoury off the ball incidents went unpunuished but caltra kept their composure to finish the game out for the first 2 points of the league. Best for caltra on the day were Kevin Kilroy, Larry Tully, Matt Killilea, Mike Kelly and Padraic Mannion.
