Caltra were defeated by Glenamaddy in the under 16 league final on Tuesday last in Mountbellew. An early 3 point lead with scores from Eoin O' Ceallaigh (2) and Mike Murphy (1) was cancelled out on 10 minutes by a Glenamaddy goal. Caltra gained the upper hand on 20 mins with a goal from Mark Dowd and further pts from Eoin O' Ceallaigh (1) and Mike Murphy (1) had them ahead by 1-5 to 1-1 at the break. Caltra missed 2 great goal scoring chances during the 1st half and this would cost them in the end. Glenamaddy proceeded to dominate the second half with the midfield on top and supplying plenty of ball to a lively forward line. Goals on 10, 16 and 31 minutes in addition to pts on 2 and 9 minutes helped Glenamaddy to run out winners by 6 pts. Caltra's only response in the 2nd half was a point on 27 mins. Despite the loss, the team fought bravely on the night but Glenamaddy were just that bit better balanced throughout the field and were deserving winners on the night. The Caltra panel and management can be proud of an excellent league campaign with the final being their first defeat. The panel is well positioned to have an extended run in the championship and we wish them well.

The under 14's played Kilconly in the 2nd round of the league in Caltra on Friday evening April 8th. Kilconly won the game on a scorline of 6-10 to 0-13. Despite the scoreline, this game was close until midway through the 2nd half when Kilconly got a few goals to pull away. Caltra got some excellent scores throughout and played some good football but were unable to cope with the defence splitting runs of one of the Kilconly midfielders. All the players tried hard and if they keep playing as a team there will be better days ahead.

The under 16's won their second consecutive league game with a comfortable win over Loughrea in Caltra on Tuesday evening April 5th. Despite playing against a strong breeze in the 1st half, Caltra led at half time thanks to 3 goals. With the help of the breeze in the 2nd half, the outcome of the game was never in doubt. This was a good all round team display and a good start to the league campaign. The next game is away to Williamstown on Tuesday April 12th at 7PM.
