The Caltra clubhouse is located right in the heart of the village. The land was purchased from the Irish Land Commission back in March 1980. The development of the dressing rooms at that stage would not have been possible but for the tremendous response from people of the parish and indeed outside the parish. The dressing rooms were completed in June 1981 but the official opening of the Caltra Sportsfield did not take place until April 1983. Pictured Below is the president of the GAA at the time, Sean O’Siochain, officially opening the facility.
The Caltra GAA club grounds opened in 1983 comprise of a standard sized playing field and non-seated stand with two dressing rooms and communal showers and a small referee’s room. This facility is situated on a site of approximately 4.64 acres within the centre of the village, which is directly opposite the church. The site also has a car park area which can cater for up to 50 cars.
